The biggest horse race in South Africa is the Hollywoodbets Durban July. A huge stakes purse of R5m will be up for grabs at Greyville on the first Saturday in July and the betting market has seen a bit of a shake-up in recent weeks.

2024 Durban July Entries
The firm favourite for this year's Durban July is Green With Envy. Dean Kannemeyer's star three-year-old will be looking to land a five-timer when he returns to Greyville in July, having registered back-to-back Grade One wins in the WSB Guineas and the Daily News 2000 this month.
Last year's runner-up, See It Again had slipped down the market, but jumped back up to second after a staying-on third behind Dave The King in the recent Gold Challenge. On the same day, Future Swing edged out Oriental Charm to land the WSB 1900 at Greyville, and both have been well-backed for the Durban July ever since.
Defending champion, Winchester Mansion is a general 14/1 shot to retain his crown, having bounced back to form with a good run in the recent Champions Challenge. Nathan Kotzen will be represented by Royal Victory, who beat Winchester Mansion in the Champions Challenge, having already landed the Summer Cup this season.
Sandringham Summit could renew rivalries with Green With Envy, having been beaten a neck by the favourite in the recent WSB Guineas. Fellow three-year-old Flag Man shot up the Durban July betting after losing out to Green With Envy by a short-head in the Daily News.
Rupert Wine Premier Trophy winner, Mucho Dinero and SA Derby winner, Purple Pitcher feature in the field. Other possible runners in this year's Durban July include old favourites Safe Passage, Cousin Casey, Aragosta and Without Question.
