Linebacker has been cut into joint-favouritism for the 2022 Durban July after a strong wave of support this week. Last year's runner-up could have been backed at 6.50 at the start of the week, but Bet.co.za were forced to slash Vaughan Marshall's star into 5.00 today.
One of the best backed horses over the last week is Mike De Kock's Aragosta, who's been cut into 10.00 from 17.00 in the last seven days. Safe Passage jumped to the top of the betting following his two-length triumph in the Daily News 2000 and he remains popular with the punters. Fellow three-year-old, Pomp And Power has been cut back into 8.00, after drifting a little following the public gallops last week.
Safe Passage's stablemate, the mare Sparkling Water had sat fourth in the betting, but she's drifted out to 11.00 in recent days. Gold Challenge winner, Al Muthana is also friendless in the Durban July betting, drifting from 17.00 all the way out to 26.00.
Last year's winner, Kommetdieding had drifted out to 17.00 earlier in the week, but Bet.co.za have slowly clipped the defending champion back into 12.00. Do It Again and Hoedspruit can currently be backed at the same price.
