2024 Betway Summer Cup Entries
Leading the way in the market is two-time Grade One winner, See It Again. Having only finished fifth on his second crack at the Durban July, Mike Roberts' star returned to action with an easy win in the Pinnacle Stakes at Greyville earlier this month and See It Again will carry a short price into Saturday's main event.
Four-time British Champion Jockey, Oisin Murphy has picked up the ride on second-favourite Frances Ethel, winner of the SA Oaks back in the spring. Gavin Lerena rides defending champion Royal Victory, who finished a length behind See It Again when the two met recently at Greyville.
Mike De Kock's leading chance this year is Silver Sanctuary, who claimed Grade One glory in the Woolavington 2000 earlier this year. Former Durban July winner, Winchester Mansion bounced back to winning ways in the Charity Mile last time out. He sits alongside Tony Peter's Main Defender in the market, with this year's SA Derby and Classic winner, Purple Pitcher also prominent in the market.
Other notable runners in Saturday's Summer Cup include consistent four-year-old Barbaresco, Sean Tarry's Future Pearl, four-year-old filly Beating Wings, and Craig Zackey's mount, Hotarubi.
